Bohemian chic, also known as Boho Chic, is a complex, individualized and unique blend of diverse influences!

1. The evolution of the bohemian chic concept

The term "bohemian chic" is an amalgam of two terms evoking inspirations directly from the 19th century for bohemian and the 1970s for hippie fashion; and "chic", which translates as "elegant". Bohemia, an ancient region of what is now the Czech Republic, was once associated with the free, wandering and often carefree people of Eastern Europe. In fact, it was the amalgam of the bohemian trend and the hippie style that gave rise to bohemian chic.

2. How to make a successful bohemian chic decoration

Despite appearances, this decorating style is incredibly elegant and versatile. Since there are no strict rules for developing this style, everyone is free to be creative, playing with color contrasts and incorporating other styles that, when combined, create a visually striking space.

A fusion of contaminations and colors is at the heart of this style. In a home of this style, you can discover a panoply of styles: jungle, hippie, ethnic, shabby chic, eclectic, vintage and modern.

3. A style that relies on colors

Bright colors are undoubtedly a hallmark of the bohemian chic style. They are particularly appreciated for decorative elements that blend into a background dominated by the colors of nature, such as the brown hues of wood, the blue of the sea and the green of plants.

Natural lighting, provided by large windows, is always the best solution. However, when natural lighting is not possible, or in the evening, we recommend using a discreet lighting system with soft, colored lights. Think ball chandeliers, candles?

In a bohemian chic home, plants occupy a special place. Greenery, in general, blends in perfectly with all types of environment and sometimes becomes a key element of the furnishings.

This style also has a certain affinity with the Hygge style, as they both prioritize comfort and personal character over a purely aesthetic sense.
