Description
The Bamiléké beaded head with blue dots will bring a touch of pep and originality to your interior design.
The Bamileke beaded head, a design object
It is a unique decorative object hand carved by women artisans, called Amazons, following the Bamileke traditions of West Cameroon. Carefully applied to a terracotta surface, the beads accentuate the features and the royal headdress with strongly contrasting colors.
History of Bamileke beadwork
The gradual and methodical appropriation of the art of beading by women has taken place since the beginning of the 20th century. The Amazonian beadworkers in Bamileke country obtain their beads at the periodic village markets. The beadworker covers each object with a cloth on which she delicately sews the beads.
The African beaded head is a decorative item that fits perfectly into an ethnic chic style. The beaded head of Cameroon reproduces the famous effigies of the Bamileke sovereigns: a king, a queen, a prince, a princess depending on the size.
